What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that helps stimulate the body’s natural healing processes, reduce pain, and improve recovery in injured or painful areas. It is commonly used for persistent tendon, muscle, and joint conditions.
How Does Shockwave Therapy Work?
Shockwave Therapy delivers high-energy acoustic waves helping to:
- Stimulate tissue healing and repair
- Increase blood flow to the area
- Reducing pain signalling in the tissue
- Support improved function and recovery
Treatment is quick, typically taking just 3–4 minutes, and is generally very well tolerated by clients.
What to Expect
Current best-practice guidelines recommend a treatment plan of 6 sessions over 3–6 weeks, depending on your condition and individual response to treatment.
Shockwave Therapy is usually performed at the beginning of your appointment, followed by tailored exercise therapy in our onsite gym. This combination allows us to address both pain and function through a condition-specific, goal-oriented rehabilitation program.
If you would like to find out whether Shockwave Therapy may be suitable for your condition, please speak with one of our Physiotherapists or Podiatrists at your next appointment.
